No Running Water

• Can you get water from another tap? If yes, the tap without water flowing is probably faulty.
• Then check that water mains stop cock is fully open
• Check neighbours' water supply is working. If not notify local Water Suppliers of supply fault.
• If yes Contact Us

• My Radiator is cold. Ensure that the radiator taps are open. Check if all radiators are cold. If so, check that the boiler and pump are working. If not see our guide to My Boiler is Not Working.


• Some radiators are Cold.
  
  • Are the tops of the radiators cold and the bottoms hot? The fault could be trapped air that needs to be bled off from the radiator. If you cannot bleed it off Contact Us to provide an estimate for correcting the fault.
  
  
  • Are the bottoms of the radiators cold and the tops hot? The fault could be that the central heating system has a build up of sludge in it. Contact Us to provide an estimate for cleaning the system.
  
  
  • The radiator taps are open. The boiler and pumps are working. I have bled the radiator and the radiator is still cold. There may be an air block in your system that needs to be cleared, or your system may not not be properly balanced. Contact Us for help.
  
  
• The System is Noisy. There may be air bubbles circulating in your system. These have to be bled off. An automatic air bleed may need to be installed. Contact Us to discuss a range of options.

• If you have no water from your hot water tap, check that you can get cold water at the kitchen cold water tap. If you can get cold water from the kitchen cold water tap, there is a problem getting water into the hot water system. Contact Us to arrange a call out appointment.

My Shower is Blocked

The shower tray has a drain at the bottom and an overflow drain near the high-water mark. In the drain there is the strainer which blocks objects from going down the drain. However, smaller items and especially hair can end up in the drain. The strainer tends to collect long hair and is often the cause of a slow or gurgling drain. Take out the strainer and remove any hair, soap build up or debris and replace properly, this may resolve the problem. Ensure that the seals are correctly positioned to prevent any leaks.

If cleaning the strainer has not cleared you can use some commercially available unblockers such as "Mr Muscle Sink & Plughole Unblocker" costs approximatley £6.00 for 500ml container. If you prefer not to use chemicals than use a plunger. You will need water in order to emerse the plunger and to clear the blockage. Place the plunger over the entire drain opening. The sink will have an overflow drain. This MUST be securely covered or the plunger will force water out through the overflow. This can be an unpleasant experience. Securely seal the overflow drain opening using a towel or some rags. With the plunger completely under water, push and pull the plunger rapidly for 15-20 seconds. If the water starts to drains out, add more water and repeat until water drains properly. Run hot water for approximatley 2 minutes to clear any residue.

There is a Bad Odour in/near my Sink, Toilet or Shower

• Check that the sink or shower U bend in tact and not allowing bad odours into the house.


• Check vents for blockages preventing properly ventilation.


• Check extract unit is working and the fuse has not blown.


• Are there any unused sinks, shower or toilets? The water in the U bend or trap may have evaporated. Run some cold water and recheck. Add some bleach to the sink or toilet drain to any kill bacteria.


• Is the drain partially clogged? Add some "Mr Muscle Sink & Plughole Unblocker". This could be harbouring bacteria and creating the bad odour.


• The seal between the drain from the toilet into the wastepipe is poor, has gaps or the putty is old and fallen off. Toilet putty is readily available at any DIY store or County Builders shops. Replace putty and recheck.

My Dishwasher does not work Properly

1. Dishwasher does not work, no lights, no sound or water

• Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker
• Check that the dishwasher is plugged in securely
• Inspect the wiring connection to the dishwasher for burns or breaks
• Check the door latch and test switch
• Check Kitchen sink taps hot and cold water is available
• Check Dishwater isolator valves are in the open position

2. Dishwasher does not fill or drains whilst filling

• Check that the water supply is turned on. The valve may be located under the sink.


• Check the door latch engages when the door is closed. Test the door switch is working properly. Caution! Do not put hand into washing machine during test. Risk of burns from hot water and risk of flooding.


• Inspect the float assembly is free and operates properly. If the float sticks this will effect the fill/empty cycle


• Check and test float switch. Inspect terminals for corrision, poor contacts and carryout a continuity check using a multimeter. Replace if applicable.


• Check the inlet tube for kinks
• Test the water inlet valve ensure the hoses are in place and secure and there are no kinks

3. Dishwash cycle is too long Check timer dial

4. Dishwasher is too noisy

• Check the spray arm for damage and obstructions
• Check the motor and mounts
• Check the fan motor and blade
• Check the drain for obstructions

5. Dishes are not cleaned properly

• Check for adequate water level, start of cycle water is filled. If there is insufficient volume in the tub the dishes will not be cleaned properly. If there is too much water the level may prevent the cycle from starting. Check the water level by starting the cycle and listen for the fill to stop, open the door to inspect on the level. If level is too low the inlet valve is faulty and requires replacement.


• Check the spray arms and spray tower for damage and blockage.


• Check the water temperature setting and heater element is working properly.


• Check the detergent cup operates properly and not sticking.


• Clean the fine particle filter.


• Check the inlet filter screens.


• Check the drain valve is free and operates properly.

2. Washing machine makes a noise but does not work

• Check the door latch and test switch
• Check Kitchen sink taps hot and cold water is available
• Check Washing machine isolator valves are in the open position

3. Water drains out while filling or during wash/rinse cycle.
Check drain hose, this should be as high as the top of washing machine.
